2021 Scouting for Food

Sequoyah Council Scouting for Food Update

Scouting for Food events will be held in February 2021 in conjunction with Scouting Anniversary Week and continuous campfire. Scouting Anniversary Week provides a great opportunity to tell the Scouting story to our community through the Scouting for Food service project. For many years, districts have held fantastic continuous campfire programs to bring public awareness to Scouting Anniversary week. Having the public drop food donations at continuous campfire sites will bring even more awareness to this program.
Food City will continue to be a strong partner in the effort to provide food to those in need in our community, but instead of providing the resource of bags for distribution they will provide some regional awareness around the event through mass media.

2021 Outings Planning

by Scoutmaster Hasbrouck

Troop 48,

As you know, one of our goals is “TO KEEP THE OUTING IN SCOUTING !

Each year we prepare a calendar for the next year.  For 2021, let’s say we will have a proposed calendar ready for the Patrol Leaders Council to review and approve before Thanksgiving.  That gives us time to make revisions and have the calendar ready to distribute early in December.  Mrs. White and Mr. Gould have agreed to oversee this process, knowing that the pandemic may upset our best efforts.

Attached is our listing of outings done in the past..  Please plan for your “team” to make sure each of your members has a chance to mark their choices on a copy and return it to me during the month of October.  “TEAMS” are our four patrols, the Leadership Corps, and all of the adult leaders, represented by the monthly adult leaders meeting.  Each person should vote for two “Super Activities” and ten other outings.  It will be helpful if each “Team Leader” will see that each of their members puts their name on the trip list, marks their 12 choices, and that ballots are collected and put in a big envelope for me.  You may give the envelopes to Mr. Hasler or Mr. Miller to leave for me in our CHPC “Office” in the Jones Bldg.

Thanks  in advance for getting this important voting completed.

Charlie Hasbrouck

Additional comment by Mr. Hasler:

Please do not limit yourself just to the previous ideas list, but also submit new concepts which is how hiking to Channels Area National Preserve, Virgin Falls outing, climbing at Obed National Wild & Scenic River, Machu Picchu, Peru super trip were added in recent years. Maybe a 5-mile introductory kayaking trip with Adventure Mendota or visiting another BSA camp (Daniel Boone, Latimer Reservation, Buck Tom) could allow affordable but different experiences.
