20210816 CHPC COVID PROTOCOL UPDATE

Greetings;

As shared in at the court of honor

Our Troop worked hard to work with our charter as we have for 75 years to offer a proper productive experience.

We have enjoyed multiple different activities and events yes unfortunately some have been canceled, changed and post dated over this very odd covid year but we pushed through when others did not

As numbers have been caped and protocol has been mandated again

I understand that many people may not agree with the mask mandate however

I thank you for your support and willingness to work with the church they have a special team working with the section that have developed a plan, this  is something I would like to address

With rising numbers we will have another change we will be able to meet on church grounds however we will not be able to continue with indoor meetings we will not have to wear masks when outside but will only have access to the office and a bathroom. The office use will be available in rotation .

I am praying that this recent change will be short lived ( we are looking at October) with 100 people coming together from multiple different counties and school district we we look at the uptick in covid cases and it’s currently bad.

The urgent cares are overwhelmed with testing and if we do not work together taking small steps to stop the spreading of this virus we could have to go back to even more restrictions .

Let’s work together to address this situation positively noting that we have a meeting place that supports and encourages our progress and has done so throughout multiple different changes, The church is letting us use their building as our own; let’s proceed accordingly teaching our youth understanding and respect and appreciation while offering grace to a difficult situation while  wearing a mask. Note :The meeting policy until October 1, 2021, or longer if covid surge continues.
Effective immediately, we are not allowed to use any of the church meeting rooms for Meetings Troop 48  will overcome and adapt  additional information will be provided.
Note We can use the restrooms by the Scout closet but no other interior spaces. Adult leaders can enter the Jones Building to get supplies but should not stay inside.
However, we can continue to use any and all church grounds for outdoor meetings and they are leaving the vans outside the awning so we can use that space when it rains.
For our planned Pack meeting and new parent intro,For Pack 348 is  on 8/31, anyone who can be available to help please do so. We need to support or Scouting family
The plan is  we can convert to an outdoor meeting and spread out in the parking lot and/or under the awning. We can definitely plan some fun outdoor activities like softball, kickball and soccer
Thanks for all of your leadership and patience as we respond to this complicated situation.
We got this !!!

Troop 48: Important COVID update 20201218

Troop family Greetings,

Important COVID update:

COVID case numbers continue to rise at an alarming rate specifically following the Thanksgiving holiday. This reality has led to the recent decision by Kingsport City Schools to join the County schools in a virtual attendance plan upon the school start of 2021.

We have agreed that our Troop would follow city school athletic planning.

City school notes:

The decision has been made that all KCS schools will return from Winter Break on January 5, 2021 with fully virtual instruction. This period of at-home virtual instruction is scheduled to occur Tuesday, January 5 through Friday, January 15, 2021. We intend to return Face-to-Face students to school for in-person instruction beginning on Tuesday, January 19 (following the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 18).

They included reasons;

COVID-19 spread throughout Sullivan County. The decision has been made to move to virtual instruction for the first two weeks following Winter Break. The health department indicates a significant surge of community spread is very likely to take place following the holiday, similar to the large increase that has occurred after Thanksgiving. Shifting to virtual instruction for a period of time after break is intended to prevent this surge from entering our schools and to minimize the opportunities for spread among students and staff.

Additionally:

The council will be closed until the second week in January

Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church has asked us to continue to follow advice of the school and has trusted our judgment.

At this point we need to do our duty to our community,  Shifting to virtual meetings  for a period of time after break is this is intended to prevent this surge from entering our community  and to minimize the opportunities for spread among our scouting families.

We had already discussed not meeting the week after Christmas encouraging zoom patrol meetings.

Please note: COVID PLAN

December 29th we will begin virtual meetings and plan to return to in person meetings January 19th. (reassessments will take place and changes to this planned return will be shared around January 15th)

To help with the success of the patrol’s leadership we will be helping set up some opportunities, talking points and activities. Please make sure that all patrol leadership has a current email address for all patrol members.

Many of our normal troop level functions are now successfully being carried out by patrols. We have been very fortunate to have been blessed with energetic and capable adult leadership in each patrol. It is likely that this leveraging of activities by patrol will continue for the foreseeable future. Given that reality, we wish to continue to maintain a low risk profile by enhancing the communication about patrol outings. The number, frequency, and complexity of which are growing as the patrols are correctly forming into more cohesive units. This will be accomplished by further promoting the filling out of a Troop 48 Trip Sheet and sharing it with troop leadership (Julieann White) in a timely fashion. This will also improve the records management for advancement and scout of the year considerations.

Digital copies of the Troop 48 Trip Sheet can be found here: Trip Sheet

Thank you for working with us to keep our families healthy and safe. Staying positive testing negative:)
